Christmas In July....with a Twist!

Hey Everyone!

I'm a wee bit late posting this entry but Twisted Tuesday challenges has a brand new challenge up and running!  It's a great jump start to get those Christmas projects done and ready (after all, Christmas is only 155 days away!) (tee hee!)

Here are the details:
The challenge: Create a Christmas Themed creation
The twist: use and evergreen bow or tree(s) in your creation.

Here's my take!
The sentiment and Penguin stamps: There She Goes; branches punch: Martha Stewart; banner die: Simon Says Stamp; embossing folder: Provocraft/Cuttlebug

I used pencil crayons to colour the ornaments in the embossed parts.  Haven't used pencil crayons in a while.  My daughter had them out to colour something she was working on and I thought, "why not!".

Be sure to check out the other creations from the Twisted Tuesday Design team!  You're sure to be inspired!

I can't wait to see what you create!

I would also like to submit this to the following:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Emboss It!

Thanks so much for dropping by!

123 Get Scrappy....with a twist!

Hey Everyone,

Us over at 123 Get Scrappy have a new challenge up and running for ya and it's a bit different than you have been used to.  It's a colour challenge!  I stumble a bit with colour challenges but I think for that reason I also LOVE to do them because it challenges my creative muscles and I'm usually rather pleased with the results!  I hope you all feel the same and will play along this month!

Here's what emerged from my grey matter:
patterned paper: DCWV, Recollections; flowers: Prima; circle journalling stamp: See'Ds; filmstrip punch: EK Success; Stencil: Tim Hotlz; Letter stickers: Making Memories, date stamp: Technique Tuesday.

There is quite the 'looking-back-on-it-now-it's-pretty-funny' story behind these photos and this incident in Vegas shared by my BFF and my sister.  I gave a teaser part of the story in the journalling circles but the rest of the story I continued on the back of the layout.  I debated in telling the whole story (going on the "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" premise), but I knew for my memories' sake, I wanted the story documented.  ;)

Challenge #12 from 123 Get Scrappy is here!  I used the bottom row: Turquoise/Aqua; Gold; Pink

I also based the layout on Sketch #118 from Sketchabilities.
I would also like to submit this to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Let's Be Clear (Clear Jewels, clear glitter-embossed papers)
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Start from Scratch (layout started with plain white background and added layers and papers to create)
Scrap Our Stash Challenge #16: Lets Go Shopping (wash tape:Zebra print; dimensional stickers: 'vegas' letters; 2 or more punches: film strip, tag; 3 or more flowers; striped paper)

Be sure to head on over to 123 Get Scrappy and check out the other DT members' inspiration.

Can't wait to see what you've created!

Thanks for stopping by!

Twisted Tuesday #80-Pearls are sooooo heavy!

Hey Everyone,

New challenge up and running over at Twisted Tuesday Challenges!  It's only been 1 week having all 3 kid lets home all day and it's been quite the adjustment but nothing too crazy.  They've actually been more amiable to doing chores around the house and have been very helpful in that respect.  #3 however, is another story (she always is!).  Still running around all crazy and loud!  Give me strength!

Anyhow, here's the deal the fortnight over at Twisted Tuesday!
Challenge: Use pearls on your creation
Twist: Use a lot of layers on your creation!

Here's my take:
Patterned paper: MME, unknown; date stamp: Hero Arts; image stamp: The Greeting Farm; dress form die: Sizzix; pearls: Recollections, Prima.

I originally wanted to use the dress form for just the dress for this fashion show layout but I thought it just wasn't 'cute' enough since the pictures (at least to me) were off the charts adorable.  So I decided to add a cute little face (and arms) to the bodice to turn it into what I had pictured in my head.  I realize lately that in my last few creation I've been crazy on the patterned paper.  I keep digging up some really pretty stuff in my craft room and at just the right time for just the right project.  These high heeled shoes were perfect for this layout!  I digitally fixed the photos a bit to showcase my little C3 and tone down the messy background (definitely not what I want noticed!).

Be sure to drop by the Twisted Tuesday Challenges challenge blog and check out the creations from the whole design team.  I hope you play along as well!  Can't wait to see what you create!

I would like to submit this to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge:  Start from Scratch (the little paper doll embellishment)
The Greeting Farm-Farm Fresh Friday: Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp: Work it Wednesday

Thanks for stopping by!

School's OUT!!!

Hey Blogworld!

First of all:  HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!  Darn proud to be Canadian!!!

I must admit, now that I'm home with the kidlets 24/7 summer is both a blessing and curse for me.  Having all 3 kids home at the same time all day does make for some greater challenges than having only a 3 year old for most of the day!  Tack on hot, humid icky days and it's a recipe for grumpiness!  Well, it's been 2 days and only 3 major meltdowns and 2 major fights to break up.  Not to mention a hubby (whom I've know since I was 14) who actually lost his cool (which I can honestly say I have NEVER seen him do in all the time I've known him) on a drive to the grandparents.  The kids were all talking over eachother and arguing and whining (oh the whining!!!) and he kinda just lost it and yelled (the loudest I have EVER heard him yell!!) "THAT'S ENOUGH!!!"
The car passengers (myself included) immediately came to a silence and the rest of the 20 min car ride remained as such.  Hubby was quite pleased with the peace and quiet.  Oh boy!  Here's hoping all the craziness got out in these last couple days and the rest of the summer will be filled with fun and laughter!  (Finger's crossed).

ANYWAYS, it was the last week of school for both my daughters and I made their teachers a special card (with a gift card inside).  Here is the card I made for C2's second grade teacher:

C2 is really into penguins and her teacher is well aware of her taste in the Antarctic creature.  I added this little guy to remind her teacher about her.  I paper pieced his little hat in hopes to make it look less wintery and I also paper pieced the heart.

I hope she liked it!

I would like to submit these to the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes
Sister Act Anything Goes Card Challenge: #63
Simon Says Stamp: Work it Wednesday

Thanks so much for stopping by!
